If you grew up in a Nigerian home
At one point or the other, I am sure you must have heard about the popular adage of the patient dog that eats the fattest bone
Our mothers used this story to teach us about patience
But I’m here to tell you that you’ve been lied to
Now don’t get me wrong. It’s good to be patient. And as a matter of fact, there are some things you won’t be able to achieve in this life without it
However, our parents only told us a half truth. Because in reality, Patient dogs don’t eat the fattest bone everytime
And they go hungry a lot of times. Asides that, they only eat leftovers and worst still, they’re always left with bones and no meat
I mean, why eat bones when you can eat meat. Besides, the patient dog might just be a lazy ass dog that waits while others hustle for their foods and happily eats the bones
So it’s really not an ideal example if you ask me
Let’s leave dogs for a moment and talk about humans
Have you ever seen a ‘patient’ person that sleeps all day without doing anything get to the top?
Truth is, in this age and time, you can’t live all your life being patient
If you do so, I can guarantee that you’ll have an average life at best. So you ought to know when exactly to be patient and when not to
There are times you need to act fast because you might miss certain opportunities if you don’t
And whether you like to hear it or not, certain things will never come back if you lose them
That’s what I have for today… Hope it helps 🤠
